What is PHP?

PHP stands for Hypertext Preprocessor. It is a widely-used, open source scripting language used for scripts that are executed on the server and it is freeware.

It is a server side scripting language used to develop attractive and dynamic web pages. It can be integrated with a number of popular databases, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Sybase, Informix, and Microsoft SQL Server.

Some advantages of PHP are as follows:

  • You add, delete, modify elements within your database through PHP.
  • It can handle form data.
  • Access cookies variables and set cookies.
  • It can encrypt data.
